Rotary Vacuum Drum
Filtres Vernay™
Rugged. Reliable. Proven. Three words that describe Filtres Vernay rotary vacuum drum filter systems. Ideal if your application demands minimal floorspace, a low capital investment, or hooded installation. A simple design, with few moving parts, ensures a long life and maximum operating availability.
Configuration flexibility is the key to the Filtres Vernay family of vacuum drum filters. With a choice of discharge styles, drum cells, constructon materials, and hooded and open designs, no one offers you more choices to meet process demands.
Filtres Vernay introduced some of the earliest vacuum drum filters in the 1930s. Since then, we’ve continued to innovate with added value features that make this proven technology even more reliable and efficient.
How it works
Filters are suitable for all types of liquid/solid separation including sludges of medium concentration and solids of low density not requiring an efficient washing.
Supported by two bearing blocks, the drum is composed of successive cells, forming a horizontal cylinder, which supports the filter cloth and is partially immersed in the tank.
The cells are sealed with respect to each other and are interconnected by pipes to the distributor.
The distributor is divided in its fixed part into several zones, each of them gathering the various filtrates (mother liquor, washing and drying waters) coming from the cell suction pipes, as they pass during the rotation of the drum.
The trough-shaped tank receives the slurry to be filtered; the tank is part of the filter frame and it supports the drum, the cake discharge system, and the slurry agitation device.
The cake discharge can be finished further by different methods (string, belt, scraper, ...).
Key advantages include:
• Available in a wide range of sizes—from 0.1 m2 (1.07 ft2) to 100m2 (1,076 ft2)
• Choice of integral frame tank, or tank supported by an independent carbon steel frame
• Innovative agitator rake design ensures solids remain in suspension and avoids sediment in the system tank for better materials distribution
• Wide range of choices for drum material to suit process demand – polypropylene, carbon steel (unlined or rubber-lined), stainless steel, as well as other materials
• Internal suction pipes are flow-optimized to ensure efficient performance
• Choice of four discharge styles to meet the needs of a wide range of slurry – scraper, belt/strings, roll, or an automatic micrometric scraper
• Available in standard (5% solids) and precoat styles to extend range of as low as 0.01%
